ADVANCED SCHOLAR PROGRAM

Where Curiosity Goes Further

Tabor Academy's Advanced Scholar Program (ASP) brings curious and motivated students together to explore new ideas, challenge themselves academically, and discover their potential.

Set on Tabor's beautiful waterfront campus in Marion, Massachusetts, ASP combines engaging academics, hands-on learning, and meaningful connections with students from around the world. Guided by experienced faculty and mentors, students develop confidence, independence, and the skills to take their learning further.

Through two distinct academic pathways—Gateways and the University Track—students can choose an experience that matches their interests and academic goals, from introductory exploration and cultural exchange to advanced study, mentored research, and original projects.

All Tabor Summer Programs including Tabor Summer Camp, the Ocean & Climate Institute, and the Tabor Sailing School share the same high-quality residential experience, ensuring every participant enjoys comfort, care, and connection beyond the classroom or waterfront

Gateways

Discover Whats Possible!

Eight Days to Learn, Connect & Grow.

Tabor Summer Gateways introduces students to the excitement of academic exploration and life at an American boarding school. Through hands-on seminars, collaborative learning, and meaningful cultural exchange, students discover new interests, build confidence, and form lasting friendships with peers from around the world.

A defining part of the experience is the opportunity to learn, connect, and build friendships alongside local American student ambassadors who participate in the program. Through shared classes, activities, and everyday campus life, international students experience authentic cultural immersion, practice their English in natural settings, and gain a deeper understanding of American culture.

Two Seminars. A World of Discovery.

SEMINAR 1

School by the Sea

Discover Marine Science Through Hands-On Exploration.

Tabor's waterfront becomes a living classroom as students explore marine science through shoreline fieldwork and hands-on investigations in the Marine Science Center. Working collaboratively, students investigate ocean life, environmental challenges, and the natural world around them.

SEMINAR 2

Global Ideas

Think Globally. Speak Confidently. Make Connections.

Through a Model United Nations format, students explore global issues, research historical and contemporary challenges, and represent countries in collaborative discussions and debates. Along the way, they strengthen their research, critical-thinking, communication, and public-speaking skills.

Learning Across Cultures

Different Perspectives. Shared Discoveries.

At the heart of Gateways is the opportunity to learn alongside students from different backgrounds and cultures.

Local students participate as Global Ambassadors, joining international students in seminars and activities to encourage cultural exchange, collaboration, and friendship.

Through classroom discussions, group projects, and evening activities, students build confidence communicating in English while sharing ideas and perspectives with their peers.

The Gateways Experience

An Eight-Day Journey of Discovery.

Program Phase                        Experience
Arrival & Welcome               Settle into campus life, meet fellow students, and begin building connections.
Academic Exploration         Participate in both seminars through hands-on learning, discussion, and collaboration.
Afternoons & Evenings       Enjoy waterfront activities, sports, English language sessions, and community events.
Closing Celebration              Share experiences, celebrate accomplishments, and reflect on new discoveries.

Students conclude their Gateways experience with a certificate of completion, recognizing their participation and achievements.

University Track

Take Your Ideas Further

Explore Your Interests. Create Something Original.

The Advanced Scholar Program University Track offers an immersive academic experience for students eager to explore potential college majors and future careers. Through interdisciplinary study, mentored research, and project-based learning, students investigate new fields, develop critical-thinking skills, and turn their interests into original work.

Guided by experienced Tabor faculty and graduate-level mentors, students collaborate with peers and gain firsthand experience in subjects that may shape their academic futures.

Choose Two Fields of Study

Explore Different Disciplines. Discover New Possibilities.

University Track students select one subject from Group A and one from Group B, combining two academic disciplines to explore different interests and discover connections between fields.

GROUP A — SELECT ONE

Climate Science

Explore Our Changing Planet.

Tabor's waterfront becomes a living laboratory as students investigate ocean life, environmental systems, and climate challenges. Through hands-on experiments, fieldwork, and real-world case studies, students develop research skills while exploring the science of our changing environment.

Computer Science

Code. Create. Innovate.

Discover the possibilities of coding, artificial intelligence, and technology. Students learn to develop programs, analyze data, and use AI tools responsibly while creating working prototypes of applications or research tools.

GROUP B — SELECT ONE

Pre-Med

Explore the Science Behind Medicine.

Discover how medical professionals and researchers investigate questions about human health. Through biology, chemistry, biotechnology, and psychology, students develop hypotheses, design experiments, and analyze scientific data to explore real-world medical challenges.

Business & Finance

Turn Ideas Into Opportunities.

Explore the world of entrepreneurship, business strategy, and finance. Through real-world case studies, students learn how companies are created, funded, and grown while developing their own business ideas and plans.

From Exploration to Innovation

Mentored Research

Ask Questions. Investigate Ideas. Discover Answers.

Working closely with Tabor faculty and graduate-level mentors, students learn how to develop meaningful research questions, evaluate information, explore emerging technologies, and approach complex challenges with confidence.

Passion Projects

Turn Ideas Into Something Real.

Every student develops an original project inspired by their academic interests. Projects may include a scientific investigation, a business plan, or a functioning app prototype.

At the conclusion of the program, students present their work to faculty, mentors, and classmates, demonstrating what they have learned and created.

The University Track Experience

From First Ideas to Final Presentations.
