Ocean & Climate Institute
Explorer Track
Explore. Learn. Act.
Open to half day, full day, or residential campers who are interested in Marine Biology but who also want to participate in the athletic and art activities offered by Tabor Summer Camp. Students will spend the morning session in the Marine & Nautical Science Center, on Tabor’s research vessel, or conducting field research in the local estuary. In the afternoon creating art, playing sports, or enjoying the Tabor’s waterfront!
Best for Campers Ages: 7 – 15
Learning Objectives
Understand foundational marine science concepts (oceanography, ecosystems, biodiversity)
Investigate the causes and impacts of climate change on coastal environments
Develop basic scientific research and data collection skills
Strengthen critical thinking, teamwork, and communication
Present findings in a mini science symposium
Researcher Track
Discover. Research. Lead.
Open to full day or residential campers who are passionate about Marine Biology and Climate Science. The researcher track is dynamic STEM experience designed for curious students ready to explore marine science, climate systems, and real-world environmental challenges through labs, fieldwork, and peer collaboration. The Researcher Track challenges students to think like scientists, lead like innovators, and act like stewards of the sea.
Students will spend both the morning and afternoon sessions in the Marine & Nautical Science Center, on the water conducting research, or in the wet lab doing real, hands-on, science.
Best for Campers Ages: 11-18
Learning Objectives
Explore the science of the ocean in action. Integrate advanced concepts in oceanography, marine ecology, and biodiversity to uncover how Earth’s most dynamic ecosystems work together.
Confront the realities of climate change. Evaluate how rising temperatures, shifting currents, and human impacts shape coastal and global marine environments—and what we can do to adapt.
Research like a professional. Design and carry out field and lab investigations using real-world data collection, analysis, and visualization tools.
Think critically. Collaborate boldly. Lead with purpose. Strengthen your ability to ask hard questions, solve complex problems, and work as part of a research team.
Share your discoveries. Present your findings at our end-of-session Ocean Symposium, where students step into the role of scientists sharing their work with peers and mentors.
